decomposable food bags

I have found these on Amazon, made in China.

They claim to be decomposable. They can be used for storage of food, including in the freezer. I now use them to wrap fish and chicken breasts, when I go shopping, and put them straight in the freezer. After use, the bag should decompose in 12 months.

They state that they are made mainly from corn starch. Its unusual to have a bag which has its own use by date!

The main drawbacks I think are that they are made so far away meaning a lot of miles travelled to reach here, and of course more expensive than the plastic variety. I paid £19 for 4 packs of 20 bags which is just over 23 p per bag.

Well for now they are my alternative to single use plastic bags, along with my tuppaware and reusable shopping bags that I take with me when I go food shopping (as long as I remember!).
