Whilst on line , I came across a news article about Darlington’s first zero waste shop called Mutiny that had opened earlier this year in the town. If I had not started down the road to reducing plastic, I would never have had any reason to think twice about such a shop, let alone go into one.
A visit to this shop confirmed that this will be the place I go to buy some of plastic free dry food such as cereal, rice, pasta, pulses, and household provisions such as cooking oil, washing and cleaning refills.
These are going to cost me a bit more than my old supermarket regulars, but my objective is to cut plastic.
This was just chance to find this shop in my home town, but the reason for mentioning it is that there may be a similar shop near you that you have not even thought about, and its worth looking into, just in case.
