kale again

Having kept us well supplied with helpings through the year, the kale plants have reached the end of their productive life.

This is the last of the plants. I will snip off the remaining leaves to cook with tonight’s tea.

The plants have now been pulled out and ready to chop into the compost bin

I have dug some home made compost and fish blood and bone powder into the trough ready for replanting with broad beans.

I sowed these mid October into newspaper pots and left them in my small green house. A couple have started sprouting. It’s taken a while due to no sun reaching my north facing garden since the equinox.

Fingers crossed the emerging tips will not be devoured by the slugs before they can get properly going.
