Sowing and potting compost us sold in plastic sacks. I have discovered this:

Coir is a product if the coconut, from the husk. I am told it is transported yo the UK in bulk on ships. What attracted me to try It out is the fact it is wrapped in fully recyclable card board.

Can’t say the same for the plastic tape used to seal the box, and the plastic bag the address sticker was placed in, however it’s a lot less plastic to landfill than a conventional compost bag.

The block is fairly light weight and compact to handle and store in my shed.
Having removed it from the box to inspect, it is wrapped in a compostable film (will check this when I out it in my compost bin next year).

The block is dehydrated, and the idea is that each time I need some I cut off what I need, soak it to rehydrate and expand it, and use.
