ribbons and bows

Many ribbons and bows that may look like foil in fact are plastic or contain plastic. Over the years I have saved and reused these. This one is particularly special.

My best estimate is that I’ve been reusing this one for over 15 years. Its the one I have always put on the gift that is the most significant at birthdays. There is still a lot if life left in it, thanks to the plastic it’s made of. I bet if it had gone to landfill all those years ago, it may still be there.

Its not the only embellishment I’ve reused over the years. Before I started paying attention to the plastic crisis, I couldn’t see the point of throwing away ribbons and bows that had been so thoughtfully chosen, and were still perfectly usable. Added to which, they can be pricey to buy new.

So rather than sling them with the wrapping I’ve kept the best bits.

I’ve accumulated a fair bit. The question is what to do with it when it’s not in use.

Here is my latest idea:

They look attractive packed into my glass vases around the home.
