100% cotton fabric wrapped with string and decorated with a holly leaf or two picked from the park is an inexpensive but attractive alternative.

But if the parcel requires the use of paper wrap, I haven\’t yet found on the high street any rolled wrapping paper that is free from plastic film. Even the recycled paper wrap is itself wrapped in film.

This means avoid wrapping sold in rolls and go for individual sheets of paper with no plastic.

Clintons sell individual sheets. I will go armed with 2 sheets of card board to place my carefully folded sheets inbetween for added protection getting them home.

Buying paper on line such as through Amazon risks it arriving through the post in a plastic wrapper. (A common theme I have with Amazon)

But I found a business based in UK who do make, sell and despatch completely plastic free wrapping. They are called wrapped by alice. They sell all sorts of wrapping items. I ordered some at the weekend and it arrived in a few days.

This pack which included 2 sheets of wrap (50x70cm), 2 tags with ribbons, 5m of twine and 4 matching stickers cost £7.05 including £1.55 post and packaging, which compares well to similar on the high street I think.
