Its of no surprise to me the festive season is responsible for a massive surge in the amount of plastic that gets thrown away.

This year I have set myself the challenge of finding out if its possible to have a Christmas without buying stuff wrapped in plastic. I would like to encourage you reading this to give it a go, and share your experiences.
One look around the shops makes clear how important manufacturers of food and gifts still think plastic is to market their goods as “festive” toΒ consumers.
Goods that I buy all year round suddenly have more plastic on, and around them. Then at home I set about wrapping them again, applying sticky tape, and adorning them with ribbons and bows highly likely to include plastic.

I love giving to friends and loved ones at Christmas. This year I have set myself 2 challenges:
1. NOT to give anything that will add to the huge amount of plastic waste at recycling or landfill sites
2. RE-USE wherever possible the plastic I already have, and keep it for use again next year.
I will post how I get on with my challenge. I hope you will be inspired to have a go, and set your own plastic free challenge this Christmas! π
