Mutiny is also a great place to stock up on dry goods such as herbs, spices, rice, pasta and soup mix. Take your own container or bags to put it in, and pay by weight. I am keeping mine in a coffee jar.

Dry soup mix is an excellent stand buy meal. No need to soak this soup mix overnight because all it contains is red lentils, spilt peas and barley which don’t require pre soaking (other dried beans and chick peas MUST be soaked overnight).
All you do is boil it on a fast boil for 10 minutes, and spoon off any white froth that forms on the surface, then lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
I like to add other ingredients such as finely chopped onion, swede and carrot with a chicken stock cube and a spoonfool of herbs, about 15 minutes before the end of cooking time. If I have any left over chicken or gammon some of that will be tossed in too. Great comfort food on a cold night.
