This weekend I bought a box of Clipper tea bags. Normally I don\’t buy Clipper as it is more pricey than other brands, but I bought this one because it said on the box “plastic free tea bags”.

I searched over the box for any other packaging info. I found thus statement “This carton is biodegradable and can be recycled”

So I parted with my cash.

But when I opened the box the tea bags are wrapped in a silver packet that looked, felt and sounded like plastic to me.

Disappointed this had not been made clear, I emailed Clipper to ask about the packaging. They report promptly and politely that the bags are not recyclable at this time due to the mixed materials used to make it.
