feed the birds

Not quite tuppence a bag, but I enjoy bringing wild birds into my outdoor space. So topping up feeders, especially through the winter, is worth it I think.

The only bird seed I could find was wrapped in clear, throw away plastic.

That was until yesterday when I happened to be in Jollyes pet store looking for budgie grit (because someone suggested it as a top dressing on my pots of spring bulbs), and found this surprise:

Nyjer seed is 25p /100g, sunflower seeds 15p/100g, sunflower hearts 25p/100g, peanuts 25p/100g.

Just remember to bring a reusable, or paper bag and help yourself.

Jollyes have stores around the UK. Perhaps other pet stores sell bird seed in this way. It’s worth checking it out.
