coffee break through!

If you read one of my earlier posts you will know that we stopped using our Dolce Gusto coffee maker due to being unable to find any recyclable or compostable pods. By switching to percolating coffee we cut down hugely on our plastic waste, but fou d that the coffee is still sold in multi layer wrapping containing plastic that you cannot recycle.

The next challenge was to find ground coffee that was not wrapped in plastic or plastic impersonating foil or paper.

After some reaseach we have found it.

Percol is the first to use the plastic free logo. It’s organic fair trade ground coffee comes in differing strengths, including espresso and decaf varieties. We found this one in Sainsburys.

Percol say this packaging is ok to home compost.

Another bonus is of course that after percolating any ground coffee the used coffee grounds and paper filter are also home compostable.
