if we changed just 1 thing

As things run out or need replacing, I have been looking for plastic free alternatives. This has been quite time consuming, as I have found the options limited. The first visit to my local supermarket after making the decision to reduce single use plastic in our home, I had very little success trying to find the things that I wanted plastic free.

I realised that I was going to have to change how and where I shop. No more would I be able to rush round the local supermarket down the road and come out with everything I wanted. More shopping on line means that some of the things I order could be travelling from a very long way away, with the added air miles to pay their toll. It also means I could be paying more for some things, including the cost of postage.

But standing in the supermarket, staring at aisle after aisle of stuff contained or wrapped in single use plastic, an alarming amount of which would end up in landfill, or our oceans, I was persuaded by the argument that recycling is not the answer to all of the single use plastic we are using every day. I decided that I had to start somewhere, and maybe with time and the sharing of ideas, I would be able to track down products produced closer to home and at a more reasonable price.

I hope you will be inspired to cut back on the single use plastic that you are buying, even if you change one thing that you buy, I think it will make a difference.
